Gaps in between tracks (mp3 Players)

Post by zenabi »

I recently got myself a Sony VAIO Pocket music player and although it looks sublime, there are fundamental flaws with the software.

One major gripe is the time it takes to change tracks, it can take up to 5 seconds! Now a lot of the albums in my CD collection contain songs that span over more than one track and having even half-a-second gap in between tracks is unacceptable (Prog fans will understand!).

If anyone has the Sony NW-HD1 - does it have the same problem?

What other mp3 players produce no gaps in between tracks?

You might want to check when burning your cds or to your mp3 player you can usually set the length between tracks. You can always bring it back to the store and try another, or ask if they know, or even read the documents it comes with

The only gapless dap I know of is the Rio Karma. There may be another couple but most hard disk players will have the gaps.
Pretty much the only thing you can do is to rip the cd as one massive track.

The tracks rip fine and play without any gaps through the SonicStage software.

Thanks for the replies. How about the iPod? I heard that might be gapless, can anyone confirm this?

Thanks for that page d_d. According to that page only the Rio Karma produces gapless playback. Shame it looks a bit ugly
