Absolutely, Everah.

Although with your busy schedule, would you have time to at least participate in discussions of best practices, development goals, and design concepts and give input?

I'd love to have you on the team, I feel you're one of the most gifted coders/thinkers here on phpdn.

I'm interested in joining if my time commitment will be enough (see two paragraphs below).

I consider myself fairly proficient in PHP/MySQL, though I started learning PHP/MySQL only about three years ago. As far as resumes go.. check out my signature (Seeds of Time Online is PHP/MySQL, while UTD is C++).

As I'm working actively on SoTO as well, I'd need to divide my time between the two projects. I could dedicate 5-10 hours per week to this project for the next few months, but after that, college starts up so I'm unsure how much time after that).

Not sure what type of project this is, but here are some other skills I have which may or may not be useful:
- C++ (~5 years)
- Photoshop
- music production somewhat

Scottayy...Even a democracy has an executive to make the final decision. ;)

Seriously, open source projects fail because they are too open. Sure you can have community votes but if they never get acted on because the votes are split or there is no ONE person pushing for something to get done, it'll *never* go anywhere. An individual capable of making the executive decision is impetus to the success of a project. Additionally it helps having someone be held accountable when things don't work.

Thats why commercial projects succeed a lot more than open source/community projects. When I have vested interest in something, damn skippy it's getting done.

For something of this nature I am sure I can avail myself of the needed time.

And thanks for the compliment. I truly appreciate that.

It did get double posted, and removed quickly. Unfortunately, your response was in the second post. ;)

Heh, I thought i was going crazy.

Thanks for considering me, and accepting :D

I've added you to the list everah.

@josh1billion, It's very hard to turn down volunteer work in any way shape or form. However, I'm quite limited on my knowledge of your abilities/specialties. Give me a bit to research your forum posts and links.

Okay there are five of us on board. Probably room for one or two more.. too many programmers spoils the stew... or something.

Ouch. I intended my post to be essentially "Me too" to astion's comments, and I thought I echo'ed them well. I guess not.

I'm an active contributor to multiple projects in the open source community, and I can definitely change my priorities to be involved with this project.

But, if I'm just an extra hand, I'll enjoy watching from the sidelines. :)

I wish I had the time. I have to stop committing to projects I don't have the time for... :x

If this project is what I'm guessing it is it won't need many coders, but it will need some very clever algorithm design in order to make it work. Especially if partial matching is a requirement.

;)

It is, but not in the limited scope version. For the future post-launch versions, it will be a requirement.

My apologies. I must've overlooked. I'm going to have a look at your posts as well. My initial response is that you're very clever from remembering past posts and to give you the thumbs up.. but I want to double check.

EDIT| +1 for the phoenix
