linux in windows or windows in linux?

For those that use both and don't dual boot (which can get quite annoying), do you prefer to have linux in a virtual machine on windows or the other way round? And why?

I prefer each OS on it's own box. Or use something like ESX or Hyper-V where it really doesn't matter.

VMWare for Windows (i.e. Windows is the guest.)

If I were still gaming it would be dual boot. VMWare just doesn't cut the mustard as much as I'd like it to at times.
