Use FFs web developer toolbar, turn off CSS, scroll down, get answers for free.

I knew they were getting kinky with for loops!

My best guess is that they adjust threads to use correct terminology. For example I don't search for "tags" because there is no such thing in XHTML, there are elements however! I think their mods are adjusting the threads and titles (of the users who post) for maximum exposure. It would certainly make them seem like experts after all.

Are you serious? I have never ever thought of lookng at the source code (I guess I'm not that cheap :P) but I am surprised EE keeps the answer in the HTML like that and hides it with something so trivial.

I thought for sure it was a time limited answer where it existsed for a few days and at which point, was archived and hidden from non-subscribers.

Maybe I will start visiting that site and stealing (erm I mean borrowing) answers. :P

Cheers,
Alex

They intentionally do it that way so it shows up in google. If google is so good at detecting hidden text then wtf tho... they surely are aware of the abuse

So I'm the only one who can see all the replies at the bottom of the page without needing to hide CSS, or are you all just not checking far down enough past the adverts?

Membership is for removing the ads, not explicitly for revealing the answers. Hence why Google has not reset their rank.

They definitely cloak their pages. Prolly your IP is being falsely id'd as a search engine. Maybe cuz of your geographic location compare to ours?

I say block em :drunk:

I've actually seen this same thread on various forums. It's like dejavu. Did I spell that right?

Anyway, I get angry when I see expert exchange show up in search results.

I can the see the answers too (they are all the way to the bottom). Did you guys visit EE recently? I think they made the comments visible for SEO reasons

Ha! There's a wiki on it...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Experts-Exchange#Reception

I'm not sure they (though I could only imagine it's possible to) reverse DNS visitor IP addresses. I've seen results sometimes when I spoof as Google and sometimes I wouldn't. So I presume they have a spaghetti implementation at best that is only somewhat effective at giving out the answer (visible or not) to Google though not to human visitors. In the impossible situation where I would run such a site (which would kill me on the inside spiritually speaking) I would imagine it's more important to show Google the full page then blocking all possible human visitors as the average understanding of how to view the answers is not relatively high.

I simply click the X and remove them from the results. Frankly I haven't gotten stuck on anything permanently to the point where I'd even consider trying to find answers on their site. If I did though I'd probably post the answer here any way.

Hmm, any one want to make a fake Googlebot that posts all the answers on an easy to access website?

EDIT | Bah...how do I make this a link instead of showing the image inline like this?

This is what I see:

Well you uploaded it directly to the website. I always use a third party image host.

Making a link...

That would have been one way...unfortunately I don't have a flickr account and I thought it would link to the file for download, like other files, not inline it. :|

Just scroll down to the very, very bottom. That's where all the answers are in clear text. Who cares though, there are other places to get the same information from.
